Performance is something we are always looking for, and it is something that will always be necessary and the browser is one of those tools that consume, but Midori is lightweight and we can make Midori even lighter and faster.
Midori has multiple options and each option has a cost in consumption, one of the options that consumes more are the workspace options, if it is very useful to separate and divide the work but if you do not use frequently this option is recommended to disable it.
How to deactivate workspaces?
- Menu Settings
- Sidebar Workspace
- Enable Workspace
WebApps
A very useful feature for accessing multiple websites, but also has a high consumption, tip: If you are not using the WebApps features, disable it.
- Menu Settings.
- Sidebar WebApps.
- Enable WebApps.
Disabling these options will increase the performance of the browser and the resource consumption of the default browser will be decreased and you will be able to enjoy an even lighter browser.
We will be working on future updates to improve consumption and performance.
These options can be applied to Midori for Linux, Windows and soon MacOS.
One of two things may be causing you to receive different AstianGO results than what you would receive from Google.
The first may involve Google's tailored search feature. Google keeps a record of all of your interests, based on things you write about in your Gmail account, things you search for on their search engine, and other Google services you use. They use this information to choose what search results they believe you are actually looking for based. The results you receive will be correspondingly less neutral, being that have been personalized. (You can find more about this so called "filter bubble" in this Support Center article.)
AstianGO does not do this. AstianGO acts as an intermediary between you and Bing, so your searches are completely private. AstianGO submits your query to Bing anonymously, then returns Bing results to you privately. Bing never sees you and does not know who made the request, seeing only AstianGO. Since Bing can't determine your interests based on your past search history, you receive a standard set search results, rather than Bing's "personalized" results. This is one of the reasons why AstianGO results are different from other search engines such as Google, Bing and others.
The other possibility is that Bing may occasionally provide different results to AstianGO than to its direct users. Because we act as an intermediary between you and Bing, we are dependent on the results Bing sends to us. We do not modify these results in any way, but deliver them to you exactly as Bing delivers them to us. Sometimes we get slightly different results, but in general, they are of the same high quality.
Other search engines record your search terms, the links you click, your IP address, and other personal information. Over time, they gather detailed information about your interests, job, income, health, politics, and more.
They then use that data to select answers just for you, usually preferring to show you you the sorts of things you've clicked in the past.
Bestselling author Eli Pariser calls this the "Filter Bubble" because over time, the search engine traps you in a bubble of your own prior interests. That means two people searching on the same term will see different results.
Here are just a few problems with "personalized" search results:
- The search engine shows you only what it thinks you should see. What are you missing?
- You have no control over your personalized results, and no idea what went into selecting them.
- The bubble reduces the number of alternative opinions you are shown.
AstianGO does none of this. You'll never get a filter bubble with AstianGO. We show the same results to everyone, giving you a reliable and consistent view of what's on the web.
In addition to trusting us to protect your privacy, you can also trust us to give you honest, consistent search results every time.
AstianGO includes a News search, delivering universal, completely private news results, letting you to keep a finger on the pulse of the news while remaining outside of the "filter bubble."
The Midori News tab can be found alongside the other result types (Web, Images, Videos), and will showcase the most relevant search results—which can be filtered by date—while guaranteeing a completely un-profiled browsing experience, allowing you to peruse the headlines free of any search history tracking. News results are provided by Bing.
When searching on AstianGO, you're guaranteed that you won't be targeted with particular stories and opinions, because we remove all Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from your search query. After deleting your PII, we then pass your search through Bing search engine and return the exact same result to you that anyone else in the world would be shown.
Most search engines keep an archive of your prior search and browsing history, resulting in a filter bubble—a tailored internet experience based on data they have collected on you, keeping you in a results bubble built by your own preferences. AstianGO’s News tab does away with this, so you see comprehensive news results without those factors driving what you see.
Opinions are already sharply divided; prioritizing news deemed most suitable for you by an algorithm tuned to reinforce your supposed preferences will harden those divisions. It is therefore all the more important to have the option to see unfiltered, unprofiled results.
Notes
- News results are localized by combining the user country and the requested "Search language" in your Settings. Since there are fewer localization options on Bing than on Google, there is a sequence of fallback markets in the event that your combination of language and country is not supported by Bing.
- Just like Google, Bing will prefer pages in the requested language, but will also include results in other languages. For instance, you may at times encounter English results even when the search language is set to Spanish.
- The News interface follows the "Interface language" in your Settings. This pertains to the word "News," the date filter, the words "Anonymous View," the relative date, and the pagination.
Some browsers support adding suggestions URLs, allowing you to see AstianGO (or other) search suggestions in the URL bar. If you are running Firefox on Android or Vivaldi on desktop, you can add AstianGO search suggestions with the following URL:
