Midori is one of the first members of the newly formed Browser Choice Alliance that launched on November 26, 2024. An alliance made up of relevant browsers such as Opera, Vivaldi, Chrome, the only two Gecko browsers (Waterfox & Midori) Wavebox (among others that belong anonymous for fear of reprisals) we joined because in the union is the strength to compete fairly on the PC, without the intervention and / or promotion of Edge as a browser, or without impacting performance.

Midori is available in multiple platforms and formats, Linux occupying both relevant distros as well as Universal formats but without a doubt Windows represents an important share of the market, with thousands of users and Microsoft sets obstacles for us.

Obstacles that affect the power of decision of the user, European, Hispanic, Asian, to have the imposition of Microsoft, its Edge browser but also its Bing search engine, Relegating Midori and leaving him out of the competition in an uncompetitive way.
For example many users report that the consumption of Midori on Windows is high, Midori has always been characterized as a light, fast browser, how is it that Edge is lighter and consumes less resources than Edge itself?

Midori’s resource consumption is higher no matter how much we optimize the code and there are already precedents. After installing Midori and/or any other browser, setting it as default browser requires a PhD to do so, due to the multiple and confusing steps to do so.

Our commitment at Astian, is not only to develop a light, fast and secure browser, that respects the privacy of users, our commitment is to bring transparency to users, that they have the freedom, to customize, to choose, to enable and disable, without fear of loss of functionality or loss of performance, that’s why we joined the Browser Choice Alliance, to fight for that freedom, you want to use AstianGO in Midori, use it, you want to use Bing, StartPage, Google or any other provider use it, Midori is yours, we just take care of creating it for you.
